Hawaii Cruise – Cabin B14

Cabin doorWelcome to cabin B14

We spent a week in cabin B14 on UnCruise Adventures’ Safari Explorer. The category for this cabin is “Master” and it is the standard sized Double cabin on board. Nine or half of the cabins are this category. Let’s take a look at the cabin. (Click on the pictures if you want to see a larger version. Then use the back button to continue reading.)

The outside door has a large window with a curtain for privacy and slides to allow entry. You enter from the cabin deck.

Cabin B14 Bed

When you walk in, straight ahead is a double bed with mirrors on the back wall that make the room seem larger and distribute the natural light brought into the room from the window in the door and above the desk  that is left of the door.

Right inside the door is the built-in desk and arm chair which has a foot stool with it. The chair is comfortable. We used both the desk and the foot stool mostly for a flat surface to put things on.

Here is the foot stool with bags on and around it. Several days into the cruise I realized the foot stool has storage space inside it. Notice the fold down desk with a supply of UnCruise post cards etc. inside. On top is an alarm clock with iphone station. Above that is a flat screen TV with a built in DVD player. The TV showed three stations. The first had a slide show of today’s schedule and the Hawaiian word of the day. The second showed where we were on our route map. The last played a documentary related to our current location. The library on the main deck had a large selection of DVDs you could watch.

Every cabin had binoculars for you to use. In the corner was the storage cabinet. The top section held two adult life preservers (yes, even on this ship we had to do a life boat drill before we sailed, Coast Guard rules apply to everyone) and extra bed linens. Two nice robes were ready to wear in the hanging area. The right side offered shelves for clothing storage. No formal night on an UnCruise cruise so pack accordingly!

Fixed Double Bed

The bed was very comfortable and while the room is not sound proof, the noise level was better than we have found on most other cruise ships or in hotels. The room does have sufficient power outlets for charging camera batteries, your phone etc.

Cabin Sink area

The sink is in the cabin not the bathroom or head as it is referred to on a ship. This arrangement worked fine and does allow one person to shower or use the facilities while the other uses the sink. More clothing storage is available in the large vanity under the sink.

ShowerIn the bathroom, the shower is to your left and is adequate in size. Three built in dispensers provide Body Wash, Shampoo and Conditioner. All products are Ocean friendly sometimes called Reef Safe. UnCruise also provides Sun Screen in large pump bottles on the aft deck that is Reef Safe. The company not only states their love for and efforts to protect the ocean but follows through with the products they use and the efforts of the crew.

Toilet areaOur tour of the cabin finishes with some notes on the toilet area. The hand and bath towels and floor mat were high quality and in good condition. Bath storage was available above the towel rack. The toilet itself is full sized, operated by a push button and not nearly as noisy as the vacuum units most large cruise ships utilize.

The room was well laid out with enough storage and everything we needed to fully be comfortable for our week aboard.
