Just behind Hoolyrood Palace is a nice park and a series of “mountains” and cliffs. The highest of these is called Authur’s Seat. We set out from our hotel, walked 1/2 mile down the Royal Mile (downhill) to the park.
If you are smart, you would stop at the information center and get a map of the trails to the top. We stopped here after we descended so we could see where we had gone.
Kristopher took off on a run and we agreed to meet up at the end. There are many trails to the top of the different ranges. There are quite a few summits and all have beautiful views. Kristopher ran up and down many of them looking for us. We did not realize how many different trails and viewpoints there were so we could very easily return and have a totally different experience.
This Florida girl can walk long distances but I really do struggle with inclines. There are no stopping points or restrooms along the trail. We just sat on our jacket on the side of the trail.
Many people were walking their dogs and several school groups were at the base of the trails. It was a beautiful day.
